Paramount dates new Transformers movie for June 2022

May 2, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Just days after it was revealed that an animated prequel movie is in development at the studio, Paramount Pictures has announced that it has set a June 24th 2022 release date for the next live-action instalment of the Transformers movie franchise.

Paramount and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures are currently working on two different live-action Transformers movies. The first, from writer James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery), is believed to be an adaptation of the Transformers spinoff series Beast Wars, while the second is being written by Joby Harold (Army of the Dead) and is thought to take place in the rebooted universe that launched with 2018’s Bumblebee.

Despite being mostly mauled by critics (particularly the latter Michael Bay entries), Paramount’s Transformers movie series has grossed $4.84 billlion across its six instalments, making it the biggest franchise in the studio’s library.
