Fortunately, AMC is releasing six additional episodes in early 2021 that will explore where Maggie has been. The show is referring to these installments as ‘bridge episodes’ and showrunner Angela King has revealed some details at a virtual New York Comic-Con panel (via ComicBook.com:

“We’re really going to see an episode with Maggie when she comes back since we just got to see her for a little bit in the finale that just aired. A bunch of our cast is featured, you’re gonna see some great stuff. We’ll find out more about the group that is on the road trip.”

Actress Lauren Cohan added: “The first episode of the ‘bridge’ is, for me, the most exciting Walking Dead episode I’ve ever read.”
