Wonder Woman franchise director Patty Jenkins, who was once attached to direct Thor: The Dark World for Marvel Studios before departing the sequel over creative differences, has praised Marvel Cinematic Universe director Taika Waititi and his work on Thor: Ragnarok.
During an appearance on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, Jenkins stated that she is grateful that Marvel Studios and the Thor franchise found Taika Waititi because he is the perfect fit for the series, while also calling Thor: Ragnarok “one of the best Marvel movies of all time.”
“[Ragnarok] was such a good movie. I’m actually so grateful that Thor found Taika because Taika is the most genius fit for Thor of all time. It’s amazing,” Jenkins said. “Thor: Ragnarok is one of the best Marvel movies of all time, it’s so good. That movie is pure joy, and so well executed. … It’s not gonna matter [if you’re not into superhero movies]. Taika is a great filmmaker, and he just made a great film.”
Taika Waititi is set to return to the MCU with the fourth instalment in the Thor franchise, titled Thor: Love and Thunder, which will feature a cast including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Waititi as Korg. The film is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
