James Herbert’s Shrine comes to the screen in trailer for The Unholy

March 17, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Sony Pictures has released two posters and trailer for The Unholy, the upcoming adaptation of James Herbert’s 1983 novel Shrine. Directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos, the horror stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan as a disgraced journalist who travels to a small New England town to investigate the story of a young girl who claims to have been visited by the Virgin Mary, he soon comes to suspect something much more sinister is at play; take a look here…

The Unholy follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. When terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.

The Unholy arrives in cinemas on April 2nd.
