Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train running late, delayed again to August

May 13, 2022 by Ricky Church

Brad Pitt and David Leith’s action thriller Bullet Train is having a hard time coming out of the station as it has been delayed once again, this time though by only one week to the first weekend of August.

Bullet Train was originally slated for a mid-July release, but was pushed back to July 29 after Warner Bros.’ DC Comics film Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson vacated that spot for a Fall release. Now, however, Bullet Train has once again been pushed back to August 5, one week after its last date, to open the summer’s final block of releases.

There was no reason given for the latest move, but Deadline noted that the move places Bullet Train as the summer’s last “event” film, especially since it is being released exclusively in theatres and not day and release on streaming services. It also noted how Leitch’s last film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was also released in the first weekend of August 2019 and proved to be a blockbuster hit. Time will tell if Leitch can strike magic once again in the August weekend.

Bullet Train features an ensembles cast with Brad Pitt, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Michael Shannon, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Brian Tyree Henry, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada and Sandra Bullock.

Based on the novel “Maria Beetle” by Kōtarō Isaka, Bullet Train stars Pitt as Ladybug, an  assassin who boards a bullet train and encounters several other professional killers: Prince (Joey King), Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry) and Hornet (Zazie Beetz). Also on the train is Kimura (Andrew Koji), a father out for revenge after Prince left his son comatose. The killers soon realize that their various targets are all interrelated, and their assignments quickly spiral out of control.

Bullet Train will be released exclusively in movie theaters August 5.
