Thomas Haden Church has “heard rumours” about Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire

July 25, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Sam Raimi returned to the world of Marvel with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but he wasn’t the only 00s Spider-Man player back at Marvel.

During Spider-Man: No Way Home, we saw the return of not only Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man but a few of his greatest foes. One included Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, who debuted in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.

Since Raimi’s return, rumors have swirled that the filmmaker could possibly tackle his long-awaited Spider-Man 4 under the Sony Pictures umbrella. Now, Thomas Haden Church is commenting on those rumors, and it seems like he’s heard them as well.

“There’s always been some kind of… I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey Maguire, and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo,” Church tells ComicBook.

While that’s no official confirmation, hearing one of the actors closest to the situation add his input is refreshing. Whether its Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 or another Amazing Andrew Garfield installment, it’s safe to say there’s room for more than just one Spider-Man at the cinemas.

You can catch references to all these Spider-Man movies and more while watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, now playing in cinemas worldwide.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange, the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan), Angourie Rice (Betty Brandt), Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Jason Ionello), Benedict Wong (Wong), J.K. Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson), Martin Star (Mr. Harrington), J.B. Smoove (Mr. Dell), Hannibal Buress (Coach Wilson), Jamie Foxx (Electro), Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), Rhys Ifans (Lizard), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman), and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin).
