There is no going back to normal in creepy clip from Leave the World Behind

November 12, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Netflix has released a brand new clip from writer-director Sam Esmail’s upcoming adaptation of Rumann Alam’s novel, Leave the World Behind, which sees a herd of deer gathering ominously outside the holiday home of Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke.

The end-times thriller stars Roberts and Hawke as a couple enjoying a weekend break with their children in a luxurious rental home when they are disturbed by a man (Mahershala Ali) claiming to be the owner and his daughter (Myha’la) who seek refuge as the world around them collapses following a cyberattack across the whole country. Leave the World behind also features Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans and Kevin Bacon. Check out the clip below…

In this apocalyptic thriller from award-winning writer and director Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Amanda (Academy Award winner Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke), rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers — G.H. (Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la) — arrive in the night, bearing news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families reckon with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.

Leave the World Behind arrives in select cinemas on November 24th, and on Netflix from December 8th.
