David Leitch’s Jurassic World movie is already extinct

February 9, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

The Jurassic Era lasted over 50 million years. David Leitch’s era as director of the forthcoming Jurassic World movie has lasted a matter of days.

It was reported earlier in the week that the John Wick and Deadpool director had taken on the seismic task of creating a standalone Jurassic World film to reinvigorate the $6 billion franchise following the muted reception given to 2022’s Dominion.

However, a week is a long time in Hollywood, with Deadline now reporting that Leitch is no longer in talks to helm the film, having amicably walked away following creative differences when it came to his vision for the film.

Universal are still sticking to their July 2025 release date, with original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp returning for the untitled project, which is being executive-produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment.

Let us know who you’d like to see orchestrating the Dino-mayhem by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
