A new Doctor Who mystery for The War Doctor available to preorder now from Big Finish

February 17, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish Productions has a brand new audio adventure available to pre-order (prior to its release in May) for those who are fans of the War Doctor. The War Doctor Rises: Fallen Heroes takes the action away from the Daleks and Gallifrey to the backwater planet of Falk, where the mayor is the victim in a mysterious murder case and someone called the ‘Doctor’ is involved.

The universe-spanning Time War affected every planet, whether the inhabitants of the planet knew it or not.  In this new three-part mystery story, scripted entirely by Alfie Shaw, the war has had its affect on the small backwater planet of Falk, an affect that will change their world forever.

In chapter one, Galactic Investigations Bureau Agents Smith and Tickson have been sent to the small coastal town of Oakview, where the mayor has been murdered.  The mysterious part of the murder is why did the murderer draw a clock around the victim’s body?

Chapter two has the two detectives examine the links between the murderer now known as the ‘Clock Face Killer’ and a cold case.  The results of their whole investigation depend on finding the answer to one question.  Who is the Doctor?

Will the agents solve their case in Chapter three? Will they get their answer to their single question? To find out, be sure to pre-order the new audio adventure.

Agent Wyatt Smith is played by Jonathon Carley and Agent Louise Tickson by Daisy Ashford.  They are joined Christopher Naylor, Kerrie Taylor and Ian Conningham.

Writer Alfie Shaw said: “The inspiration for this set was stuff like True Detective and Alan Wake 2. Yes, there’s a murder to be solved, but the focus is more on how the crime affects those caught up in it rather than a Christie-style whodunnit. I really wanted it to almost not be Doctor Who, and the fact it must become Doctor Who again is part of what messes things up for everyone.”

The War Doctor Rises: Fallen Heroes is available to pre-order for £19.99 for the download, or £24.99 for the digital download and limited edition CD Box Set.  A multibuy bundle with 2025’s second The War Doctor Rises box set can be pre-ordered for £38 for the download or £47 for the download and limited edition CD box sets.
