A Time War-era Doctor Who adventure for Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor coming in June

April 27, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Arriving this June from Big Finish Productions is a brand-new audio box set for the Eighth Doctor.  Set during the Time War, Doctor Who: Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit, features four episodes where the Doctor and his great-grandson Alex have been driven apart in an uncharted universe where the Time War is on a very different path.

Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit continues on from last year’s release Reflections, and finds the Doctor (having turned against his former companions) hot on the trail of his great-grandson Alex (Sonny McGann) and starship pilot Cass Fermazzi (Emma Campbell-Jones).  Accompanied by the manipulative Hieronyma Friend (Niky Wardley and Lizzie Hopley), who wears the faces of the Doctor’s old companions, the Eighth Doctor will stop at nothing to catch his prey.

From L to R = Paul McGann, Emma Campbell-Jones, Sonny McGann

These episodes are:

  • Spoil of War by Mark Wright – Alex and Cass arrive at a sinister stately home where guests are arriving to bid on a unique item, but what is the item and who will profit? Meanwhile, the Doctor and Hieronyma Friend are closing in on Alex and Cass.
  • The Tale of Alex by Katharine Armitage is a story of heroes and villains. The hero of the cosmos, Alex, arrives on the starving world of Igg, where the locals think their prayers have been answered. However, the villainous Doctor is hot on his tail and has plans of his own.
  • See-Saw by James Moran – Cass and Alex receive a distress signal that leads them to 1920s London, but upon arrival they find the city deserted, as though abandoned just seconds before. The Doctor and Friend arrive at the same time and in the same location but the two groups can neither see nor hear each other. What they can hear are unfinished nursery rhymes, but what will happen if they complete them?
  • The First Forest by Tim Foley finds the Doctor crash-land in a weird woodland. Surrounded by both friends and enemies, the Doctor will soon discover he has travelled much further than even the Time Lords ever thought possible.

Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit will arrive this June and is available to preorder now for £24.99 for the download or £30.99 for the download and limited edition CD box set.
