Africa Pack expansion now available for Planet Zoo

June 22, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Developments has today released the Africa Pack expansion for their hugely popular animal friendly Planet Zoo.  This brand-new expansion adds 5 new creatures to add to the line-up of wonderful animals, themed African scenery and a new timed scenario to test the skills of zoo managers.  See the new animals available in the release trailer below.  Also released today is a new free update that will enhance the gameplay experience.

The new Africa Pack adds four new habitat animals and one new insect exhibit to the roster of creatures.  These new animals include the cute (and simples) Meerkat, the endearing Fennec Fox, the African Penguin, the rare Southern White Rhino and the Sacred Scarab Beetle.  Each of these animals will have their own requirements but all the information on how to care for them and keep them happy can be found in the Zoopedia.  The Meerkat also introduces a new ‘digging’ behaviour.  This new behaviour won’t allow Meerkats to escape from their habitat and they can’t dig on rocky terrain.

The expansion also brings more than 180 African themed scenery pieces to enhance the park.  Whole buildings will be able to be made in the African ‘Moorish’ architectural style and a range of decorative items will help design stunning new habitats for animals.  There are also a range of new foliage types to help shade guests and animals, including Doum palms, Dragon Blood Tree, Sausage Tree and Quiver Tree.

The new Timed Scenario is set in an oasis and will task players with creating a paradise for guests and animals using limited resources and power.

Update 1.6 is a free update that will introduce a number of new features, including the addition of deep diving for bears, the introduction of Habitat Web cams which offer a small marketing boost and a great view of the animals, new camera effects for use with Guest Cams, Security Cams and the new Habitat Web Cams, the addition of Vista Points to help direct guests.

The update also brings the new Esperanza Santuario de Animales timed scenario.  Players will need to build an efficient rescue and provide ideal homes for a range of animals rescued from around the world.

The pack is available now on Steam, priced £7.99 / $9.99 / €9.99.
