American Horror Story season 8 to take place in the future

January 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we’ll be getting an American Sci-Fi Story for season eight of American Horror Story, with creator Ryan Murphy revealing at the Television Critics Association Press Tour that the next season will take place in the future.

“All I’ll say about it is I want to go to the future — still topical, but the future, which I’ve never done,” said Murphy, who then ruled out space as a setting. “I pitched it to [FX chief] John Landgraf today right after his TCA panel, and he loved it, but he’s asked me not to say what it is. I told him and he fell out of his chair with joy. I think people will like it, it’s different from what we’ve done before, but I always try and do the opposite of what I’ve done on that show.”

The eighth season of American Horror Story is set to air later this year, with Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter and Dylan McDermott all said to be returning. Meanwhile, a ninth season in 2019 will feature a crossover between the first season Murder House and the third season Coven.
