Andre Holland is The Actor in trailer for Neon mystery-thriller

February 20, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Neon has shared a poster and trailer for The Actor, director Duke Johnson’s  upcoming adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s 2010 novel Memory.

The 1950s-set mystery-thriller stars Andre Holland as Paul, an actor who wakes up in a small town in Ohio with no recollection of who he is or how he got there after being beaten and left for dead, and follows his struggle to make his way back home and reclaim his life.

Joining Holland in the cast are Gemma Chan, May Calamawy, Asim Chaudhry, Joe Cole, Fabien Frankel, Olwen Fouéré, Youssef Kerkour, Simon McBurney, Tanya Reynolds, Edward Hogg, Toby Jones, Tracey Ullman, and Scott Alexander Young. Watch the trailer below…

The Actor finds Paul Cole (Holland) stranded in a mysterious small town with no memory of who he is or how he got here. Without a sense of identity or purpose, he starts from scratch and begins courting a local costume designer Edna (Chan). As bits and pieces of his past slowly emerge, he attempts to find his way home, but time is slippery, appearances can’t be trusted, and it’s unclear which of his identities is real.

The Actor is set for release on March 14th.
