Atomfall’s The Red Strain DLC sets September release

August 30, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Rebellion has revealed a 16th September release date of Atomfall’s second DLC, The Red Strain, with a brand-new teaser trailer. The new trailer, which can be seen below, features a walk up an ominous railway line while a robotic voice issues warnings and commands. Where does this line lead to? You’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out.

Rebellion hasn’t provided any details about what this new story expansion will entail, but promises that more information will be revealed in the lead-up to the release. What we do know is that the DLC will likely focus on an industrial facility on a rocky hill surrounded by trees, grass, and strange red foliage.  Players can also expect plenty more mysteries to investigate and solve.

Atomfall is Rebellion’s hugely successful survival-action game, where players explore, scavenge, craft, and fight their way through a quarantine zone set in the beautiful northern England countryside. Based on the Windscale nuclear incident of 1957, Atomfall provides players with a gripping and exciting world to explore, filled with mysteries and threats that blend science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War influences.

Check out the new trailer, and jeep an eye out for more news on this brand-new story expansion coming soon…

Atomfall’s The Red Strain DLC will arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Playstation 5, and PS4 on 16th September.
