Batgirl would have featured in Ben Affleck’s The Batman movie, says Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello

April 20, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The more that’s revealed about Ben Affleck’s once-planned The Batman film, the more disappointing it becomes that we never got his version.

The latest news about the abandoned DCEU project comes from Justice Con, a fan-organized event for all things Zack Snyder, where actor Joe Manganiello spoke in detail about how his character Deathstroke would’ve been the main villain, hunting Batman after blaming him for the death of his son.

Manganiello also revealed that we would have seen Batgirl featuring in The Batman, in what would’ve been her first appearance in the DC Extended Universe. He spoke about a fight scene, which would have pitted Batgirl and Batman against Deathstroke. The way Manganiello describes it, it seems like it would’ve been quite the epic moment.

“At one point, there was an action sequence in the middle where Deathstroke just completely mauls Batman and Batgirl at the same time,” said Manganiello. “The two of them against Deathstroke are no match, and he just mops the floor up with them, and they narrowly escape. It was definitely going to be a lot of fun.”

“There was like a big huge showdown, Batgirl jumps in to try to help Bruce because Deathstroke is so fast that he can anticipate Bruce’s movements, and there was this huge fight in Gotham City where Batman is like completely afraid because he realizes he’s met someone who can take him,” Manganiello told the ComicBook Nation podcast. “And then that leads to this big climactic battle through the streets of Gotham City at the end.”

Are you disappointed that we never got to see Manganiello’s Deathstroke taking on Batman and Batgirl? Let us know on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
