Brie Larson cast alongside Mark Wahlberg in The Gambler

October 18, 2013 by admin

Brie Larson has been on the fringes of Hollywood for a long time now. She stole the show in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, impressed in 21 Jump Street and she seems to have broken through with her indie film Short Term 12.

However, it looks as if Larson might finally have her big break, as the actress is in talks to join Mark Wahlberg in Rupert Wyatt’s remake of the James Caan film The Gambler. The film has been in development hell for a number of years with booth Martin Scorcese and The Hangover director Todd Phillips attached to direct.

The Gambler will find Mark Wahlberg as Jim Bennett, a college professor whose vices cause his life to spiral out of control. Larson looks set to play a student whom Wahlberg falls in love with. Rupert Wyatt’s previous films have impressed, with his addition to the Planet of the Apes series Rise of the Planet of the Apes showing off his talent when using a large budget.

Hopefully this will be the film to give Larson the big break she thoroughly deserves.
