Brie Larson would like to see Ms. Marvel in a Captain Marvel sequel

February 18, 2019 by Gary Collinson

We’re still a few weeks away from the release of Captain Marvel, but it seems attention is already turning towards future instalments in the female-fronted Marvel franchise.

During the Asia press conference for the superhero blockbuster, Brie Larson was asked which character she’d like to see sharing the screen with Carol Danvers if (and when) Captain Marvel gets a sequel, with the Oscar-winner replying that: “My dream would be that Ms. Marvel gets to come into play.”

Introduced to the Marvel comic book universe in 2014, teenager Kamala Khan adopted the mantle of Ms. Marvel after her idol Carol Danvers assumed the identity of Captain Marvel.

Larson may well get her wish at some point, as Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has previously confirmed that there are plans to introduce Kamala Khan to the MCU, stating that: “Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel to the world.”

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty), Ana Ayora (The Big Wedding), Vik Sahay (Chuck), Kenneth Mitchell (Star Trek: Discovery), Chuku Modo (The Good Doctor), Clark Gregg (The Avengers) and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald). It is set for release on March 8th.
