Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg think recasting Wolverine would be impossible

February 1, 2016 by Gary Collinson

20th Century Fox faces the unenviable task of replacing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine following next year’s third solo movie, and speaking to Digital Spy both X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer and writer-producer Simon Kinberg have admitted that recasting the role would be “impossible.”

“I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories,” said Kinberg. “So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward. Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else playing the part, and there’s not too many characters I can say that for.”

It had been rumoured that Jackman would return as Wolverine in this year’s Apocalypse, although there’s been no official word on his involvement, and Singer refused to be drawn into the discussion, telling the site that: “I can’t talk about that.”

So that’s a yes..?

Are Singer and Kinberg right? Is recasting Wolverine an impossible task? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 19th in the UK and May 27th in the States, with Wolverine 3 slated to arrive on March 3rd 2017.
