Chris Evans on Captain America’s relationship with Iron Man going into Avengers: Infinity War

March 18, 2018 by Gary Collinson

As we saw in Captain America: Civil War, things didn’t exactly go too well for the Avengers the last time Marvel’s superhero team were together. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were left fractured and split in two following the events of the 2016 blockbuster, although Captain America did extend an olive branch to Tony Stark at the end of the movie, leaving him a phone with which to reach him, should the need arise.

Now, with Avengers: Infinity War set for release in a little over a month, we can probably expect Tony Stark to be making use of that phone as Thanos and his forces turn their attention towards Earth in the Mad Titan’s quest to gather the Infinity Stones and gain ultimate power.

Speaking to Collider, actor Chris Evans has discussed Cap’s relationship with Iron Man going into Infinity War:

“I don’t think [Steve or Tony]  are ones to hold grudges,” said Evans. “I think we operate very binary, utilitarian approach to most things we do, and I don’t think we let emotion dictate our reality. It’s been a couple years, so I think we both, to some degree, not moved on, but maybe buried some things.”

Based on what we’ve seen in the trailers, we may not see Captain America and Iron Man reuniting in Avengers: Infinity War, and that may be saved for Avengers 4 – assuming both Avengers survive their encounters with Thanos, of course…

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27th 2018 and will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Sean Gunn (Rocket, Kraglin), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L.
