Chris Pine’s Wonder Woman 1984 return “makes perfect sense” says director Patty Jenkins

January 22, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman 1984, says that the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor “makes perfect sense”.

There is no question that the Wonder Woman follow up, Wonder Woman 1984, is one of the most anticipated superhero sequels in development right now, with both star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins returning to action.

Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor is also back for the sequel, a fact some have taken umbrage with considering the character is supposed to have died during the First World War. Will he brought back in a way that is coherent and worthwhile? Well, Jenkins says yes. Speaking to AM To DM, she said:

“It [Pine’s return] wasn’t a solution to ‘Oh god, that worked out, let’s try to jam you in there.’ It’s all incredibly important to the story. It makes perfect sense, that’s all I can tell you.”

Fans will certainly be hoping this is indeed the case and that Pine’s return as Steve will be an important part of Wonder Woman 1984. Are you comforted by these comments from Jenkins? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth.
