Christopher Plummer has commented on replacing Kevin Spacey for All the Money in the World.
One of the biggest last minute changes in recent movie history has occurred with Spacey being pulled from Ridley Scott’s biopic All the Money in the World in favour of Christopher Plummer.
Spacey was removed from the role, even though the film releases next month, because of a series of disturbing allegations regarding sexual misconduct with minors and co-workers.

Plummer, who was initially Scott’s first choice for the role, has now commented on the situation which will see him star as J. Paul Getty.
“I think it’s very sad what happened to him. Kevin is such a talented and a terrifically gifted actor, and it’s so sad,” Plummer told Vanity Fair at the premiere of The Man Who Invented Christmas on Sunday in New York. “It’s such a shame. That’s all I can say, because that’s it.”
Plummer also added: “Although the situation is very sad. I’m very saddened by what happened to Kevin, but what can I do? I’ve got a role. I admire Ridley Scott and I’m thrilled to be making a movie for him. And so I thought, that was it. Ages ago I was in contention for [the role], way back. So I was familiar with it, and then Ridley came to me and I agreed. I wanted to work with him. He’s very good. I loved the script. The script is wonderful.”

All the Money in the World follows Gail, (Michelle Williams), Paul’s devoted, strong-willed mother, who unlike Getty, has consistently chosen her children over his fortune. Her son’s life in the balance with time running out, she attempts to sway Getty even as her son’s mob captors become increasingly more determined, volatile and brutal. When Getty sends his enigmatic security man Fletcher Chace (Mark Wahlberg) to look after his interests, he and Gail become unlikely allies in this race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.
All the Money in the World is set for release on December 22nd.
