Comic Book Review – Reyn #2

February 13, 2015 by Andrew Newton

Andrew Newton reviews Reyn #2…

Reyn returns Seph to her father and the Followers of Tek, who ask him to join them on a mission to stop the Venn from destroying Fate.

Issue 2 of Reyn from Image Comics is out and my fears have been put to rest.  There are many comic book series that start off with an amazing and action packed first issue only for subsequent issues to lack the same impact and feel like mere filler.  This has NOT happened with Reyn and I am so pleased that issue 2 has maintained the same compelling storyline as the first.

Last issue we saw our Warden hero Reyn and his new found friend (Seph) about to battle against a group of soldiers in the local tavern with the odds very much not in their favour.  This issue continues on from that exciting conclusion and we finally find out whether Reyn wins or loses his fight but what do the mysterious Venn plan on doing to him?

Once again, the standard of writing by Kel Symons is of very high quality and I stand by what I said in my review of issue one when I said it was ‘…storytelling at its best’.  Nate Stockman has continued to back up the excellent storytelling with some wonderful artwork which emphasises the action taking place in the story.  The colours by Paul Little are light and assist greatly in capturing the atmosphere of both story and artwork.

I’m still really enjoying this series and am looking forward to issue 3. I’d certainly recommend you give this series a try if you enjoy the whole swords and sorcery genre.
