Comic Book Review – Thanos Rising #5

August 30, 2013 by admin

Robb Ghag reviews Thanos Rising #5…

“Thanos’ Rise is now complete…. setting the stage for Marvel’s massive, universe changing event: INFINITY!”

The final issue of Thanos Rising and it absolutely delivers!

The birth of a god, destruction of Titan and an insight into Thanos “The Mad” are all contained in this final issue of Thanos Rising. This book took many twists and turns, but finally dove tails with issue one, finally circling back into how Thanos came to be, and more importantly, why he continues to do all the evil deeds he does throughout the cosmos.

The story line ends perfectly, again a testament to Jason Aaron’s writing and provides a prelude into the Infinity story arc. I couldn’t think of a better way for this book to end. The artwork again delivers on all fronts, from the emotional detail of Thanos, Death and even Thanos’ father are all drawn to perfection in my opinion. Not an easy task, considering that Thanos himself is a man without any emotion, nor is Death.

Given the fact that Thanos’ popularity skyrocketed after that devious grin in The Avengers movie, this will give fans and novices alike a glimpse into who exactly Thanos is. Further into the comics realm it sets up a great prelude into the Infinity series, which if advertising is to be believed, will change the Marvel Universe forever.

Taking this series as a standalone, I can easily say it was an amazing read from issue one until now. It’s easy to see why Marvel keeps coming back to Thanos as one of their greatest villains.
