David Ayer’s End of Watch gets a series adaptation at Fox

February 11, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

One of the truly great modern cop movies is David Ayer’s End of Watch, so it’s good news for anyone who agrees with that statement because a series adaptation of the 2012 hit has been given the go-ahead at Fox.

According to Variety a scripted hour-long adaptation of End of Watch has been given a series commitment, with writers and executive producers David Ayer and David Matthews attached.

The series would chart a similar course to the film, which followed the daily grind of two young police officers in Los Angeles who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.

End of Watch starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as two young patrol cops getting caught in the crossfire of the LA street gangs. It was made for $7 million and went on to gross $55 million worldwide, earning an 85% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
