Graybeard Games have announced the release of retro-styled, 2D, action-oriented, survival RPG It Lurks Below onto Steam Early Access. Developed by Diablo creator David Brevik, It Lurks Below has been inspired by Terraria, Minecraft and even Diablo. Two new trailers showcasing the game can be seen below.
In It Lurks Below players will create their very own custom character and select from six different classes before delving into the world below and discover the secrets of the evil lurking there. As adventurers dig deep into the world they will encounter randomly generated underground dungeons filled with evil creatures, malevolent bosses and secret areas. Characters can be upgraded using a clever survival talent tree and discover a variety of items that can make progress easier.
“At the Game Developers Conference last month, I talked to a lot of indie developers who recommended doing Early Access through Steam – they basically said I’d be crazy not to do it,” says David Brevik.

It Lurks Below, a passion project developed entirely by Diablo creator David Brevik, is now available for purchase as part of Steam’s Early Access program. Though still in development, the game has received continually positive feedback from beta testers for more than two months, and Brevik is excited for it to be played by a larger audience. As stated on the game’s Steam page, where Early Access is available for $19.99, the official release of It Lurks Below will be…“Soon.”
It Lurks Below will hopefully leave Early Access for a full Steam release later this year.
