DC’s Black Adam gets an official synopsis

December 25, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

With 2021 drawing to a close, Warner Bros. has taken the opportunity to update the official listings for the studio’s 2022 theatrical slate, which includes an official synopsis for Dwayne Johnson’s long-awaited DC movie Black Adam.

There’s nothing too revealing here, especially for comic book fans, but it does give us some idea why – as The Rock says – the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change…

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods – and imprisoned just as quickly – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Black Adam is one of four DC movies heading to the big screen next year, and the second after March’s The Batman. So far, we’re yet to see a trailer for the July release, but we did get a sneak peek teaser back in October during DC FanDome.

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and sees Dwayne Johnson starring alongside Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz and Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui and Uli Latukefu in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Black Adam is set for release on October 21st 2022.
