Deadpool 2 writers wanted the cast of the Fantastic Four reboot to cameo

May 26, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last week, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed that they floated the idea of writing a cameo for Chris Evans in Fox’s superhero sequel Deadpool 2, which would have seen the MCU star reprising his Human Torch role from the studio’s original Fantastic Four movies to audition for Wade Wilson’s X-Force team.

Well, it appears that Evans’ Johnny Storm wasn’t the only Fantastic Four appearance under consideration, as the duo have told Yahoo! Movies that they were also keen on bringing in Miles Teller’s Mister Fantastic, Kate Mara’s Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan’s Human Torch and Jamie Bell’s The Thing from the disastrous 2015 reboot from director Josh Trank.

“We had Chris Evans coming in, not as Captain America, but as the Human Torch,” said the duo. “And then we had a subsequent scene where all the 2015 Fantastic Four came in together, including Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, to kind of one-up the Chris Evans visit.”

Despite the atrocious reception to Trank’s Fantastic Four, the cast have surprisingly all expressed their interest in returning as Marvel’s First Family, and with a sequel about as unlikely to happen as the Gambit movie, a Deadpool 2 cameo could certainly have been fun.

Perhaps we could get to see them in the X-Force movie, before the rights to the characters all revert back to Marvel Studios? Or would you rather we avoid any reminder about the 2015 reboot whatsoever? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Marvel’s motormouth mercenary is back! Bigger, better and occasionally more pantless than ever before. When a super soldier arrives on a murderous mission, Deadpool is forced to think about friendship, family and what it really means to be a hero – all while kicking 50 shades of ass. Because, sometimes, to do the right thing you need to fight dirty.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Bedlam, Lewis Tan (Iron Fist) as Shatterstar, Bill Skarsgard (It) as Zeitgeist, Rob Delaney (Catastrophe), Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) as Russell, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as Black Tom Cassidy and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider) as Yukio.
