Deadpool screenwriter says a decision is yet to be made over PG-13 or R rating

September 23, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Last week 20th Century Fox finally decided to pull the trigger on the long-gestating Deadpool movie, reacting to the overwhelmingly positive response to the leaked test footage from July by announcing that the Merc with the Mouth would be leading his own solo feature on February 12th, 2016.

Since then there’s been a lot of speculation as to whether Fox will go all out with an R-rating for Deadpool, or play it safe – and no doubt ensure greater box office returns – by restricting the levels of violence and bad language with a PG-13 certificate.

Well, according to Rhett Reese – who co-wrote the original screenplay with his writing partner Paul Wernick – a decision on the rating is yet to be determined, with Reese stating on Twitter that: “Hey, guys, no one knows yet whether Deadpool will be R or PG-13. There may not be an announcement for a long while. Hang in!”

Do you think Fox can do Deadpool justice with a PG-13 rating, or does it need to be an R?
