Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello reveals a particular Batman comic that he’d like to see adapted to the screen

November 27, 2017 by Jordan Jones

With Justice League now out in theaters, fans have their first official look at Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, who makes his appearance after the credits roll. While we have had test-footage showing the character, this is the first time that we’ve seen the legendary mercenary remove his helmet, showing off the actor’s picture-perfect likeness to Slade Wilson.

Originally slated to be the headlining villain in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Deathstroke is now primed to be the star of his own DCEU solo film, which means that Joe Manganiello has been reading a lot of comics lately. In an interview with Mic, the actor reveals a Batman comic that is his personal favorite; an arc that he would like to see brought to the screen:

“If something were to come my way, in that way, I would happily accept it… I was a fan of DC comics and I’m a big fan of Geoff Johns’ Batman: Earth One, which was a really great series. For anyone who’s a comics fan who hasn’t read it, I highly recommend it.”

While that wouldn’t give the actor a chance to square off against Batman, Batman: Earth One would still be a great storyline to pull material from for future films. Besides, it’s a sure-thing that the actor will meet Batman at some point in the future. Who knows? Perhaps he will show up in the upcoming The Batman trilogy after all?

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League reunites Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf.
