Dexter: Resurrection will see David Zayas, James Remar and Jack Alcott reprising roles

January 7, 2025 by Ricky Church

Dexter fans are going to see several familiar faces return for the upcoming miniseries Dexter: Resurrection. According to Deadline original series stars David Zayas and James Remar are set to reprise their roles as Angel Batista and Harry Morgan while Jack Alcott will return as Dexter’s teenaged son Harrison Morgan from Dexter: New Blood.

Dexter: Resurrection will pick up where New Blood left off as Dexter escaped police custody and let Harrison shoot him so Harrison himself could escape with a clean slate. It was assumed Dexter died, but as the opening of the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin showed us Dexter was on the cusp of death and taken to the hospital to be operated on to save his life. His former identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher, though, has been discovered with Angel Batista making his way from the sunny Miami to the snowy backdrop of Iron Lake in the state of New York to confront Dexter.

Zayas, Remar and Alcott will all have series regular roles in Resurrection, telling us Batista and Harrison’s stories are far from done in this new chapter of Dexter. Remar will most likely return as the figment of Harry that Dexter sees as his Dark Passenger as he did throughout the majority of the original series and as Jennifer Carpenter did for New Blood as Debra.

It is currently unknown if any other actors from the original Dexter series or New Blood will also return. Exact plot details are unknown save for it taking place after New Blood and the present day moments that opened Original Sin and will likely close it out leading into Resurrection.

Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced and showrun by Clyde Phillips, who served as showrunner for the first four seasons of Dexter and Dexter: New Blood and is currently showrunning Dexter: Original Sin. The series will premiere later this year.

In the meantime, Dexter: Original Sin is halfway through its season and Phillips and Showtime are also developing another prequel series revolving around season four’s Trinity Killer, played by John Lithgow who will return as narrator in the same way Michael C. Hall has narrated Dexter’s inner voice.
