Directors Guild of America announces 2016 DGA Award nominees

The Directors Guild of America has announced the nominees for the 2016 DGA Awards, with last year’s winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu once again in contention for The Revenant alongside Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Adam McKay (The Big Short), George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Ridley Scott (The Martian).

For the first time, the DGA has also introduced a new award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a first time feature director, with Fernando Coimbra (A Wolf at the Door), Joel Edgerton (The Gift), Alex Garland (Ex Machina), Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) and Laszlo Nemes (Son of Saul) all in contention.
