Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor Adventures – Hooklight comes to its epic conclusion with Hooklight 2

May 15, 2025 by Andrew Newton

The Fifth Doctor’s epic adventure that began in April’s Hooklight finally reaches its conclusion as The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Hooklight 2 is released today on the Big Finish website.  This new box set features the final six episodes with Peter Davison reprising his role of the beloved Fifth Doctor.

Hooklight 1 ended with the Fifth Doctor and his companions Tegan (Janet Fielding), Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) and Adric (Matthew Waterhouse) being separated in the mystical sector of the universe known as Morning. The Doctor is trapped in the past, Tegan is at the edge of the system, Nyssa is having her own problems with a terrible force and only the young Alzarian, Adric, is available to finish the arduous challenge.

From L to R: Matthew Waterhouse, Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding.

Whether the time travellers manage to reach the Dark Forge in time depends on who it is lurking in the shadows, someone who once made a terrible mistake, will stop at nothing to put it right and who knows the Fifth Doctor very well

Peter Davison and Celia Imrie

Hooklight 2 also features the voice talents of Celia Imrie as Dr Kessica Myles, Kieran Bew as Davlin Crux, Alan Cox as the Halcyons, Shogo Miyakita as Oskar, David Holt as the Robots, Issy Van Randwyck as Merla, Theo Solomon as Triss, David Shaw-Parker as Soothsayer and Harriet Kershaw as Galieth.

Actor Matthew Waterhouse added: “It’s one of the most fantasy-oriented stories I’ve been in certainly, and yet it still lodges itself in the spirit of classic Doctor Who. It’s a massive piece, but it really, really bombs along, it’s got so many concepts, it’s so rich, and it all sews together beautifully.”

The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Hooklight 2 is now available to buy from the Big Finish website as a download for £19.99 or as a Collector’s Edition 3-disc box set for £24.99. Alternatively, the two volumes can be purchased together for £38 for the download and £47 for the Collector’s Edition CD box sets.
