Doctor Who: The First Doctor Adventures – Beware the City of Illusions incoming in March 2026

October 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has announced that pre-orders for Doctor Who – The First Doctor Adventures: Beware the City of Illusions are available now, ahead of its launch in March 2026. Starring Stephen Noonan, Lauren Cornelius, and Anneke Wills, this next instalment of the First Doctor’s Adventures features one three-hour-long story written by Nicholas Briggs and sees the return of Polly Wright, for the first time since 2019.

Since leaving the company of the Doctor, Polly has spent much of her time campaigning for people to save the environment, and now has the opportunity to investigate an eco-friendly city that the British Government has created with much help and input from the Gynt Foundation and its mysterious benefactor, ‘Mr Hammond’.

Thanks to the requirement for an endorsement from a prominent green campaigner to allay public fears, Polly gets to check out this fantastic new net-zero city, but soon finds it contains a terrible secret, one that could endanger the whole of humanity. Thanks to a quirk of fate, the Doctor is also looking around, although from his perspective, he hasn’t yet met her. Polly also meets an older Dodo, but her old friend is now working for the ambitious politician J-J Radcliffe. Can she be trusted?
