Doctor Who: The Sixth Doctor’s Sontarans vs Rutans audio adventure continues in March

February 3, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has released more details on Born To Die, the third part to the Sontarans vs Rutans mini-series in the Sixth Doctor adventures.  Due for release this March, Born To Die is a full-cast audio adventure featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and India Fisher as Charley Pollard.

This mini-series takes place in the period when Charley found herself separated from the Eighth Doctor in the far future and around the time that the Sixth Doctor rescued her.

In Born To Die the Doctor takes a trip to the planet Taxodon to see its native species, the Knox.  When a Sontaran is murdered, things go disastrously wrong and the Doctor has mere hours to prove himself innocent of the murder.  When more Sontarans start dying, it is up to the Doctor and Charley to investigate what is killing them and why the war-loving Sontarans are on Taxodon in the first place.

Doctor Who: Sontarans vs Rutans: Born to Die has been written by Tiegan Byrne who has previously starred as Runa in the most recent pair of The War Doctor Begins box sets.

Tiegan explained “John simply said to me, ‘The story needs to be the Doctor, his companion, a Sontaran and a Rutan on a planet…. Whatever happens is up to you.’ And that was it. It was completely open for me to play with and explore.  I loved the freedom and creativity involved writing Born To Die and even more so, finding ways for the story to work alongside the other episodes in the series. John and the other writers were so supportive and helpful, it was an absolute joy.”

Each part of Doctor Who: Sontarans vs Rutans can be purchased separately for £10.99 for the Collector’s Edition CD and digital download or £8.99 for the digital download only.  Look out for Born to Die coming this March.
