Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ holiday themed Red One to get theatrical release

December 22, 2023 by Ricky Church

Chalk it up as another win for cinema as Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ upcoming holiday action film Red One is set to be released theatrically next holiday season before premiering on Prime Video, per a report from Deadline.

Red One stars Johnson and Evans with J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus. Specific plot details for the film are being kept under wraps but has been described by Amazon Studios as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” The film’s official release date is November 15th, 2024, right at the start of the holiday movie season.

Warner Bros. will internationally distribute Red One while Amazon MGM will do so in North America. This follows their pattern lately of giving their films a theatrical run prior to their streaming release as we have seen this year with the likes of Creed III, Air and Saltburn.

Red One is directed by Jake Kasdan from a script by Chris Morgan (Hobbs & Shaw) and features Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, J.K. Simmons, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Wesley Kimmel and Bonnie Hunt.

Red One will be released November 15th, 2024.
