Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to play Shazam or Black Adam

August 19, 2014 by Anghus Houvouras

The rumors have been brewing for a while, but it seems like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finally given confirmation about his role in DC’s Shazam film. The twist is he isn’t sure if he wants to play the hero or the villain.

From Associated Press:

[Johnson] told The Associated Press on Monday that he has always been a fan of anti-heroes and said one of his favorite DC Comics characters is Black Adam.

Appearing in Mexico City to promote Hercules, Johnson said he will make sure comic fans are not disappointed.

“I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role,” he said.

While Marvel has a sizable lead in the comic book movie market, DC is making some inspired and exciting moves as they expand their cinematic universe into exciting new areas. We’re still awaiting confirmation on which of the seven slots Shazam will appear.

Personally, I’m pulling for him to play Black Adam. What do you think?
