Earl vs. the Mutants playable demo arrives on Steam

January 18, 2024 by Andrew Newton

With 2024’s first Steam Next festival rapidly approaching, developer Falling State Inc. has today released a playable demo of their upcoming action roguelite game, Earl vs. the Mutants. Think Vampire Survivors mixed with a bit of Mad Max and you can picture how fun and chaotic the gameplay will be.  Watch the new gameplay video below…

Earl vs. the Mutants takes this popular genre of games and steers it in a bold, blood-spattered direction as players will swap the swords and spells for a variety of destructive post-apocalyptic vehicles.  Players will be able to unlock a range of modifications to create ultimate killing machines and cause carnage as they plow through hordes of deadly mutants and menacing mutant bosses.  Vehicles can be equipped with a variety of upgrades, including vehicle-mounted weapons, attack and support drones, upgrades and temporary power-ups.

Rather than avoid enemies, players will need to guide Earl and his devastating vehicles directly into the oncoming hordes, and should they survive, will get to face powerful mutant bosses and claim their vehicles.

“We’ve been longtime fans of action-roguelites, and lately we’ve gotten into the growing trend of ‘survivorlikes’,” said Colter Haycock, CEO and co-founder of Falling State Inc.. “With Earl vs. the Mutants, we wanted to shake things up by introducing high-speed player movement and encouraging the player to ram into enemies instead of constantly dodging. We think we’ve found the perfect balance, staying true to what we think makes these games fun, and at the same time, putting our own spin on things.”

Head to Steam now and download Earl vs. the Mutants’ playable demo.
