Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain arrives exclusively on Playstation 4

April 11, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Playstation 4 players can today enlist in the elite EDF as D3 Publisher announces the release of Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain exclusively on Playstation 4.  In this latest title of the long running series, the Earth is once again threatened by a malevolent extra-terrestrial race and all players are needed to protect the citizens of Earth.  Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain brings with it more characters, new weaponry, more tech and fantastic gear to help combat the threat.

It has been twelve years since the Earth was first attacked by the alien “Aggressor” and in Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain the assault from giant insects, monsters, and mechs continues.  The latest title in the popular series will still see players taking on an overwhelming number of enemies but will introduce new features such as character customisation, a new cast of characters from one of the strongest units within the EDF and a brand new separatist faction called the Kindred Rebellion.

Featuring:

  • Four different Soldier Classes to master, that can have different load out combinations thanks to a powered exo-skeleton suit (“PA-Gear” technology).  Each class, Trooper, Jet Lifter, Heavy Striker and Prowl Rider will also come with their own critical Over Drive ability.
  • Both online and local multiplayer split-screen modes are available. Online multiplayer supports up to six player co-op.
  • A new Mercenary mode will see teams competing for Energy Gems.  This mode hosts up to 8 players.
  • Character customisation: For the first time in the series, players will be able to use character customisation as they step into the boots of Closer, a decorated war hero who awakens from a seven-year coma. Players can customise his or her appearances before diving into the game’s campaign.

“On behalf of D3 Publisher and creators, I would like to thank EDF fans around the world for their continued support,” said Nobuyuki Okajima, Producer at D3 Publisher and Creator of the EDF series. “With Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain, we wanted to create an EDF experience that can be enjoyed by both newcomers and veterans alike – and hope everyone enjoys the next chapter in the fight to save our mother Earth!”

Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain is available now on Playstation 4.
