Exclusive: Zak Penn talks Pacific Rim 2

February 2, 2015 by Luke Owen

It was announced last year that Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk) had been hired to write the screenplay for Pacific Rim 2 along with original writer and director Guillermo Del Toro. On the latest episode of the Flickering Myth Podcast, we caught up with Penn to talk about his new documentary Atari: Game Over, as well as the latest on Pacific Rim 2.

“You know, once a month I’ll read an article where Guillermo has just said, ‘this is what’s gonna happen’, and I’m like, ‘oh wow I can’t believe you told everyone’,” Penn told us. “But to a certain extent, you can imagine [what it will be like] if you’ve seen the first movie.”

“He and Travis [Beecham] created this huge mythology and there is a lot of different stuff to mine,” he continues. “I mean, it’s like five movies stuffed into one movie so there’s a lot of different directions we can go. There will be a lot more about the Kaiju that I can assure you that.”

“It will feature large robots and large monsters,” he concludes.
