Fast & Furious costume designer signs on for Captain Marvel

October 20, 2017 by George Chrysostomou

According to a report from a report by Omega Underground, costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays has signed on for 2019’s 90-set Captain Marvel movie.

With sci-fi franchises like Star Trek: Beyond, Total Recall and Battle Los Angeles, as well as the Fast & Furious franchise and even a Marvel entry with Blade, Hays’ past work speaks for itself. Perhaps Sanja is the perfect eye to bring life to the classic comics design. Of course, her work will also have to include not only the titular character’s famous look, but also costuming for a younger, two-eyed Nick Fury, the organisation of S.H.I.E.L.D. and for the first time ever, the intergalactic species of the Skrulls.

Presumably Hays was chosen for her experience in sci-fi in particular, as Captain Marvel is said to be set primarily in outer space requiring a level of unique imagination. The film is said to go into production in early 2018 so time is now ticking before we get a first look at Brie Larson’s former Ms Marvel’s costume. Concept art that has previously been released shows a lot of promise for the first female-led Marvel movie.

Captain Marvel is set for release on March 8th, 2019 and will take place in the 1990s, as Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers battles the Skrulls. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will also reportedly appear, although Jackson has suggested that he’s yet to sign on to the film.
