Final update arrives for State of Decay 2

October 24, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Since 2018, Undead Labs have been providing update after update for the fabulous State of Decay 2, but have today released the very final update. However, it’s not the end of the journey for fans as this will allow the devs to work on the hugely anticipated State of Decay 3. This final update releases a wealth of content, quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

This final update brings a whole wardrobe full of new outfits that can be found in containers across the map. There’s a Fedora hat, Pilot Caps, Fire Fighter outfits, Pirate Jackets, Kraken Hoodies and Combat Helmets to name but a few.  Undead Labs have also made all previously time-exclusive items available to find as well, so if you missed the Swine and Bovine Mask, Ninja Hoodie, Hockey Mask or the festive Ugly Sweater the first time then now is the time to get them.

There are also an assortment of previously time-exclusive weapons that have a chance to appear in the world, these include a mix of both blunt and bladed such as the Zed Piercer, Skullsplitter and the Grass Cutter.

A variety of previously seen vehicles can now be found in the world, including the Wizard Van, Brogan Rapscallion – Pizza Cat and the cool looking Miragra – Flaming Demon Skull allowing players to drive around in style.  A new adjustment added now makes all vehicles go slower in the water, just choose your vehicle wisely for the chosen terrain.

Other QOL improvements include being able to access individual Survivors’ inventories from the Community screen (so no more wasted time looking for that survivor that you forgot you put in a watchtower), zombie spawns when you slam a door or fail a search have been removed so the noise only alerts existing zombies, and rucksacks can be deposited at Landmark Outposts.

There’s a huge amount of fixes as well, all of which can be seen (along with everything else that’s new) in the patch notes here.

Enjoy surviving with this new content and look forward to State of Decay 3 coming in the future.
