Five Nights at Freddy’s comes to Dead by Daylight

May 27, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Behaviour Interactive has announced that the scary animatronic Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy’s will be the latest killer to arrive in Dead by Daylight. Fans have been asking for this crossover for some time and it promises to be one of the game’s biggest crossovers to date.  Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy’s will officially release on 17th June but is currently available now as part of the Steam public test build.

Springtrap – The Animatronic is one of the franchises darkest villains and his arrival in The Fog marks the first time that this character has ever been playable in the game.  His terrifying decaying animatronic features are sure to scare the pants off any Survivor trying to escape as he pursues them with his large pizza knife and a fire axe that functions as his Power.

Players who take control of Springtrap will be able to throw the axe to create a revealing area-of-effect when it lands, making it easier for the Killer to locate their prey.  By throwing the axe into a Survivor’s back will need them to remove it themselves or ask for help from an ally, but removing the axe as Springtrap will trigger a terrifying jump scare that sees The Animatronic scream in your face and ends with the victim being taken for a stroll to the hook.

When Springtrap is selected as the Killer in any Trial, there will be 7 Security Doors that spawn across the map. Both Survivors and Killers can enter these doors and pass through the iconic Security Office to other doors across the map. Another jump scare and instant grab can be expected if a Killer and Survivor cross paths in the office. Interacting with the doors as a Survivor will allow players to switch between security cameras above each door and scout out Springtrap, reveal him to other Survivors and pick a door they can exit from when they go through. However, Springtrap can short out cameras by hitting the door with his axe.

When it comes to maps, the latest chapter also introduces the new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Map. This new map includes an all-new outdoor section as well as the pizzeria’s familiar interior, including the Dining Hall with a full animatronic band on stage.

The official launch of the chapter in June will be accompanied by a Collection of different looks for Springtrap from the franchise’s history. This includes the Yellow Rabbit Legendary Outfit for Springtrap inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and features original voice lines recorded just for the game by actor Matthew Lillard.
