Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition available to pre-order for Nintendo Switch

September 28, 2023 by Andrew Newton

IllFonic has announced that the Ecto Edition of  Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, will be available to pre-order for the Nintendo Switch on 28th September at 9am PST.  This action-packed asymmetrical multiplayer set in the Ghostbusters universe pits a team of Ghostbusters against a formidable ghost.

The Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition will initially release as a digital edition and will include all four DLCs released to date and the original game.  A physical edition of this will also release later on in the year thanks to Nighthawk Interactive.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 4v1 multiplayer that will have four players join others to form their own Ghostbusters team and track down the player taking the role of the ghost. As the hunters, players will get the chance to use iconic Ghostbusting equipment, including the P.K.E. Meter, the Proton Packs and the traps used in the films to snare and capture the Ghost.  The player taking the role of the ghost will have the opportunity to possess items, summon minions and carry out other spooky activity such as sliming the Ghostbusters to slow them down.  There’s also a single player mode with bot-assisted play for those who want to enjoy the fun without going online.

Players will also recognise such locations as the Firehouse and Ray’s Occult Books, both of which serve as the game’s hub and are where players will choose missions, practice their skills and customise their characters.  All while being accompanied by the original film actors reprising their roles as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.  Other locations include a museum, winter lodge, docked ship, multi-leveled prison and an active brewery.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition will be available to pre-order for the Nintendo Switch from September 28th.
