Giancarlo Esposito joins Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World for latest round of reshoots

June 2, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Captain America: Brave New World is still a ways away from its release, so the film’s retooling continues.

Production is heading back to Atlanta this week, where they’ll begin a round of additional photography. Per The Hollywood Reporter, this round of reshoots will run for 22 days, and one focuses on new action sequences as well as a new character.

After months of rumors and teases, Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Better Call Saul) is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the actor is on the call sheet for Captain America: Brave New World in a still-undisclosed and villainous role – one he’s previously described as “better than you can imagine”.

The film original managed to wrap principal photography before the Hollywood strikes, but its post-production has been rocky. With Bob Iger coming down hard on Kevin Feige about the state of the MCU and public reception, everything got a shake-up. Set for a July 2024 release, Marvel moved Brave New World to Feb. 14, 2025. This saw the production get time for test screenings and any reshoots, opening the door for this round of retooling.

To ease any fears, THR notes that the reshoots for Captain America: Brave New World do not appear to be as “extensive as the reshoots that faced Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which lasted six weeks, or the expensive and extensive reshoots endured by The Marvels.”

Captain America: Brave New World is set for release on February 14, 2025.
