Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2 director wants to helm Marvel’s Blade

August 2, 2019 by Liam Waddington

David Leitch, the director behind the recently released Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, would like to direct the upcoming Blade movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent interview with Screenrant.com, Leitch stated he would like to work on the new Marvel project and working with the lead, Mahershala Ali: “Mahershala is such a great actor, and I’ve been fortunate to work with some great actors, and I never go wrong that way. Having him play that role is a big deal and would be really exciting. So, yeah, I would love to have that conversation.”

Leitch made his directorial debut on John Wick, the first instalment in the beloved Keanu Reeves action series. Moving on from John Wick, Leitch has also directed the 2017 adaptation of Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy, and he was hired to helm the Marvel sequel Deadpool 2. His recent project was the Fast and Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw with Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Vanessa Kirby, which is currently holding a 71% tomatometer score and a 91% audience score.

Given that Leitch is currently in pre-production for the upcoming films Undying Love and The Division, he might have his hands slightly tied up at the moment. However, after three great movies and if Hobbs & Shaw is a success, Kevin Feige may come knocking at his door to helm the MCU version of the daywalker.

Do you think David Leitch would be a great choice to direct the recently announced Blade movie? Who would you like to see helm the movie? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
