Jeremy Renner back for Bourne 5 under Fast & Furious director Justin Lin

November 9, 2013 by admin

Cast aside any hope of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon returning to the Bourne franchise, at least for the time being. As revealed last night, Universal Pictures has tapped Justin Lin to direct the next chapter of Aaron Cross’ (Jeremy Renner) story, with the studio hoping he can do what he did for the Fast & Furious franchise with the as-yet-untitled fifth instalment of the spy series.

Lin has helmed every instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift through to last year’s Fast & Furious 6, although he chose to hand things over to James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring) for next year’s Fast & Furious 7, citing a lack of adequate development time. However, that won’t be the case on the next Bourne movie, which is currently without a script and a scheduled release date.

Are you interested in seeing what Justin Lin can bring to the Bourne franchise (sans Jason Bourne once again)? Let us know in the comments below…
