Jesse Eisenberg says no Lex Luthor scenes were cut from Justice League, unsure if and when he’ll return as the character

March 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Given that there’s be no word whatsoever about a possible extended or alternative cut of Justice League, it seems we may never know for sure exactly what Zack Snyder had in mind for the DC blockbuster prior to his exit. However, it seems one thing we can rule out is that earlier cuts featured any more of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor.

Speaking to Variety about whether he was meant to have a larger role in the DC ensemble, Eisenberg responded: “No. I was in it after the credits. No. Actually, on the contrary, they added some stuff.”

Eiesenberg was only in one single scene, where Luthor met with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, so presumably when he says “they added some stuff”, he’s referring to Zack Snyder adding in the post credits scene during the initial production (Snyder shared a photo of himself working on the storyboards for the Deathstroke scene long before his departure).

Asked about Warner and DC’s future plans for Luthor, Eisenberg said: “I hope [I get to play him again]. I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play. So I would love to do it again. But I don’t know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it.”

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
