Josh Boone casts Nat Wolff in his adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand

May 8, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Well, after going through several directors (including David Yates, Ben Affleck and Scott Cooper), it finally looks like Warner Bros. and CBS Films’ adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand is starting to show signs of moving forward under Josh Boone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boone has cast Nat Wolff and that he’s writing an original part specifically for the actor, who has previously worked with Boone on Stuck in Love and The Fault in Our Stars.

“He’s a wonderful improviser, he’s my secret weapon, my lucky rabbit’s foot,” said Boone. “Two or three of the biggest laughs in my first movie, he improvised. He’s gonna be in every movie I make.”

Given that Warner Bros. and CBS plans to adapt the epic novel as a single movie, you have to wonder whether adding original characters is really such a good idea, considering the sheer amount of material they’ll need to get through and / or omit. Unless of course he’s amalgamating a few existing characters..?
