Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct Pet Sematary remake

November 1, 2013 by admin

After vacating the director’s chair on the reboots of both Highlander and The Crow, 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo looks to have found his next project, and yep, you’ve guessed it – it’s another remake.

According to Variety, Fresnadillo is in talks with Paramount about directing Lorenzo Di Bonaventura’s upcoming remake of the 1989 Stephen King adaptation Pet Sematary, which centred around a family who discover an ancient Native American cemetery that allows creatures buried there to be brought back from the dead, albeit with a bit of an attitude adjustment.

The original Pet Sematary was directed by Mary Lambert (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary), who also returned to direct a sequel in 1992. The script for the remake has been written by Matt Greenberg (Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, 1408) and David Kajganich (The Invasion, Blood Creek).
