Judd Apatow compares Ghostbusters haters to Trump supporters

June 3, 2016 by admin

Even with big releases like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War in 2016, perhaps the most talked about movie of the year is Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters. It has caused ire among some corners of the Internet realm and has developed a large portion of supporters who will shoot down anyone who talks negativly about it – just ask James Rolfe of Cinemassacre.

One man who is the ‘defend’ camp is Judd Apatow, who he collaborated with the on the short-lived TV series Freaks & Geeks.

“I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” he told Uproxx. “I would assume they are the exact same people.”

He adds: “That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on earth, so I couldn’t be more excited. I think people have paid too much attention to just some angry trolls, and it will be judged on its own greatness. I don’t think anything really matters the way you think it does. The movie comes out, and it will be great, and people will just be happy to have it. It’s not like anybody really cares about a couple of idiots who hold onto the idea that things never evolve. I always think, you know, we have our past and if you can come up with a new, cool way to do something, then that’s exciting and hopefully it will make a lot of people happy.”

In all fairness to Apatow, Donald Trump did say he wasn’t happy about the movie a couple of years ago.

Ghostbusters is rumoured to have had a very troubled production, with unhappy cast members bad-mouthing the movie on-set and arguing amongst themselves for more jokes. Reported Sony insiders have taken to Reddit to post detailed plot synopsis and have called early screenings “a trainwreck”, with some even comparing it to last year’s Fantastic Four.

Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!

Ghostbusters is set for release on July 15th and sees Paul Feig (Spy) directing a cast that also includes Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Andy Garcia (The Godfather: Part III), Michael K. Williams (Boardwalk Empire), Matt Walsh (Veep), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Neil Casey (Saturday Night Live) and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones). Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are also all confirmed to cameo.
